Twitter Adopts Whisper Systems for Added Security Purposes
Twitter acquired the services of Whisper Systems in a move designed to increase the online security of users.
Whisper Systems, a mobile-security software development startup, works to provide security and management solutions for computer networks and devices.
Twitter provided a statement on its latest partnership: "The Whisper Systems team is joining Twitter starting today. As part of our fast-growing engineering team, they will be bringing their technology and security expertise to Twitter's products and services. We're happy to have Moxie and Stuart on board."

Twitter ran into privacy and security issues perviously. The Federal Trade Commission investigated two security breaches of the social website in March. The company agreed to establish a privacy program afterwards.
In September, several hackers gained unauthorized access to the NBC News' Twitter account. They posted a message claiming terrorists launched an attack at Ground Zero.
Whisper Systems spoke about its move to Twitter and future plans: "Now that we're joining Twitter, we're looking forward to bringing our technology and our expertise into Twitter's products and services."
"The Whisper Systems software as our users know it will live on (and we have some surprises in store that we're excited about), but there is unfortunately a transition period where we will have to temporarily take our products and services offline. RedPhone service will be interrupted immediately, but FlashBack users have a month to pull off any backup data they would like before that service also goes offline,” said Whisper Systems.
Whisper Systems currently has several of its products in beta. Those products include WhisperCore, a robust device and data security for Android, and RedPhone, an encrypted voice for Android.
Zeus Kerravala, principal analyst at ZK Research, spoke to Newsfactor about the benefits of today's Twitter.
"Twitter is where people tend to learn about events first. I remember learning about the San Francisco earthquake through Twitter. I found about Osama bin Laden through Twitter, as well as the NBA strike. It's a place people go to get information and distribute information,” said Kerravala.
Twitter also acquired the services of technology groups, such as social information analysis startup Julpan and TweetDeck.
