Two and a Half Men Crew: 'Ashton Kutcher is Not as Funny as Charlie Sheen'

Ashton Kutcher is not as funny as Charlie Sheen, show workers from “Two and a Half Men” have said.

One inside source said, “[Ashton] is a really nice guy. And he’s ok on set. He gets the job done- that’s what we all want.”

“He’s just not as funny as Charlie,” said the insider, according to E! News. “Not that we’d want Charlie back if you doubled our salaries.”

Playing Walden Schmidt, Kutcher has replaced Sheen on the show, which premiered its eighth season on CBS Monday. The premiere broke records, and coveted 27.8 million viewers, but the show’s staff is seemingly not convinced the success will last.

Charlie Sheen was fired from CBS after a public meltdown which included verbally assaulting the creator of “Men,” Chuck Lorre. The 46-year-old actor’s longstanding battle with drug and alcohol abuse caused delays in the show’s production, causing dissatisfaction among the star’s colleagues and coworkers.

President of CBS Entertainment, Nina Tassler said, “We have an extraordinary actor in Ashton Kutcher,” during the Television Critics Association press conference tour in August.

Possibly in a jab at Sheen, Tassler continued, “You have someone who is committed to doing their job and is incredibly professional.”

After season eight’s premiere, Fox news reported that 39 percent of “Two and a Half Men” viewers said they missed Charlie Sheen, while 32 percent felt that Kutcher was a good replacement. The remaining 29 percent said that it was too soon to tell how Kutcher would do.

LA Times reporter Robert Lloyd wrote a review of the show’s premiere Monday, saying: “Kutcher brings a softness as well as a sense of rude health – he was naked for much of the show – to a series that could often be brittle and sour, misanthropic and misogynistic, and temperamentally middle-aged.”

Fans sounded off on their opinion of Kutcher’s debut on Twitter with mixed reviews, such as user Caroline writing, “Goodbye Charlie, hello Ashton! #TwoAndAHalfMen.”

“It’s really weird seeing Ashton Kutcher on ‘Two and a Half Men’ but more weird without seeing Charlie Sheen,” wrote Twitter user Laura.

Louis quipped, “Ashton Kutcher should earn an honorary Emmy for conning so many otherwise sensible people into watching ‘Two and a Half Men.’”

“Two and a Half Men” airs Mondays on CBS at 9 p.m. EST.
