Two Foster Girls' Adoption Christmas Wish Granted After Prayer Balloon Found
Two young foster children living in Knox County, Tenn., have been granted an early Christmas wish after they sent a prayer balloon into the sky this past summer asking God to give them adoptive parents and a forever home by the end of December.
The girls, Eva, 6, and Jasmine, 8, were attending Vacation Bible School at their east Tennessee church over the summer when they decided to send their prayer request up in a balloon along with 30 other balloons carrying the prayers of other students at the Bible camp. Eva and Jasmine had been living with their foster parents, Lynn and Dennis, for only two months when they decided they wanted to be officially adopted by them, and their prayer request to God was asking Him to grant the wish by Christmas.
"Eva 6, Jasmine 8, we want to be adopted by our new mother and father this Christmas," the note, which was written on an index card and sealed in a zip lock bag, read.

None of the 30 balloons that left the vacation Bible camp in Knoxville, Tenn., were returned to their original senders except for Eva's and Jasmine's, which reportedly floated all the way from Tennessee to the Double C&G RV park in McHenry, Md. The people who found the balloon at the park quickly mailed it back to Lynn and Dennis in Tennessee.
Lynn told WBIR-TV she believes the balloon being found was a message from God that she and her husband, Dennis, were the right parents for the two girls and they should go through with an official adoption process. "Everybody prayed over them and we released these balloons there were 30 of these that we released, and the girls' balloon was the only one to this day that came back to us."
"I can just see God taking this balloon and blowing it in the right direction. To be found and be sent back to us to tell us he approves for us to be able to adopt these girls," Lynn added.
With the help of Omni Visions Adoption Agency and the Department of Children's Services, the girls were able to receive their Christmas wish a little early. On Tuesday, Knox County Judge Harold Wimberly legally made Jasmine and Eva the daughters of Lynn and Dennis.
In an equally inspiring adoption story from earlier this year, 15-year-old foster child Davion Only was flooded with thousands of adoption requests after he stood in front of a Florida congregation and pleaded for a family to take him in. When it was last reported on in late October, Davion was going to pick his new family from a short-list provided by his adoption agency. "Old or young, dad or mom, black, white, purple. I don't care. And I would be really appreciative. The best I could be ... I know God hasn't given up on me. So I'm not giving up either," Davion said at the time.
