Two Nebraska Children Found Caged, Mother Arrested (VIDEO)
Kids Removed From Dog Cage in Filthy Trailer
Two children who were found in locked cages have been taken into child welfare custody, and their mother arrested in North Platte, Nebr. All together four children were found.
Authorities described the trailer where a 3-year-old boy and his 5-year-old brother were kept as filthy, with the smell of urine and dog feces throughout the trailer.
Officers from the North Platte police department went into the home Monday after an anonymous call requesting that authorities check the welfare of the children.
Two boys, ages 3 and 5, were soon found in a 30-by-42-inch wire dog kennel.
"They had a small child's mattress in there, and that's where both kids were sleeping. The gate on that door was wired shut," said a police spokesman.
The children's mother, 22-year-old Ashley Clark, told officers she put her boys in the kennel at night to keep them from climbing out of the trailer through a window, a police spokesman said.
The three adults in the trailer, one of whom was the children’s 23-year-old mother, were taken into custody and ordered to have no contact with the children. They were held on $50,000 bond.
