Tyler Perry is Sticking by Kim Kardashian
Tyler Perry would still like Kim Kardashian to maintain her role in his next film, “Marriage Counselor,” despite her own personal marital woes.
Only one week after announcing she would take part in the latest Perry film, Kardashian publicly announced her split from spouse of 72-days, Kris Humphries. Despite the backlash from fans, Perry told TMZ that Kardashian would still take part in the film.
"She is scheduled to work as planned," said Perry while shutting down rumors that her divorce announcement had affected her work with the mogul.
However, fans of Perry have taken to his website to express outrage concerning his choice in casting Kardashian.
“Dear Mr. Perry, I've supported all of your movies and plays over the years. However, your new movie "The Marriage Counselor" will be one that I will not support since Kim Kardashian is set to star in it,” wrote a fan wrote on Perry’s website.
“Please do not give into the hype of this superficial person. She's been divorced (now twice) at only 31 years old and she is only famous because of a sex tape!” the fan added.
While most disagreed with Perry, some showed support to his executive film making decisions.
“We don't want to hear this nonsense, be considerate of Tyler and Kim's feelings,” wrote another fan. “Please believe me we are all God’s children.”
Kardashian, who last tweeted “God always has your back” on Twitter, also expressed excitement about her initial announcement of participating in the movie.
“Big news,” Kardashian tweeted. “I'm co-starring in Tyler Perry's new movie."
The movie will be an adaptation of Perry’s tenth play that toured in 2008, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Jurnee Smollett will star alongside Kardashian as a marriage counselor who is bored with her own love life.
Smollett’s Ivy League-educated character will then have an extramarital affair with a client, before realizing her mistake, reported Deadline.com. Kardashian will play Smollett’s coworker, Ava, who attempts to help the counselor through her tough times.
The movie is currently being filmed in Atlanta.
