Tyra Banks Receives Degree From Harvard

Tyra Banks has one more achievement to put next to her name, the supermodel graduated from Harvard Business School.

The America's Next Top Model creator and host graduated with a certificate from the Owner/President Management Program at Harvard Business School in Cambridge, Massachusetts, according to Us Weekly.

The supermodel mogul graduated with a certificate from the Ivy League school's Executive Education branch of Harvard Business School on Feb. 17.

Banks dropped out of Loyola Marymount University at age 17 to pursue a modeling career. Banks stated that she took the course to improve her brand.

"In order for my company to grow and be the best, and to reach these women, and to serve them, I needed the best," Banks told CBS. "So I went to the best."

There are "no formal educational requirements," but the program is for successful entrepreneurs. According to the program's description, "candidates must be actively involved in running the business and hold a significant equity stake in their firms."

"Harvard is all about innovation and being first to market … It's something I'm constantly bringing back to my team, whether it's my soldiers or my generals," Tyra told Bloomberg Businessweek.

She continued: "I give them challenges and homework and brainstorming sessions to bring the culture that I'm learning at school into my own business."

Before she decided to go to Harvard, Banks was praised for being the first African American woman to appear on the covers of GQ Magazine and the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue.

Banks has also appeared in a few films and she hosted her own talk show "The Tyra Banks Show" from 2005-2010.

"Smiling ear2ear on the Harvard Business School campus w/ my diploma," the 38-year-old wrote on her Twitter page.

Other famous people who have attended Harvard University include actress Natalie Portman and Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg.
