UConn Sorority Hazing: Student Hospitalized After Being Ordered to 'Sizzle Like Bacon'
A UConn sorority hazing incident has seen Kappa Kappa Gamma handed a permanent ban, according to reports. Members of KKG allegedly forced a pledge to lie down on the floor and "sizzle like bacon" and then drink alcohol until she passed out.
This week, after hearing reports of the incident, the university sent a letter to the group informing them that their registration had been revoked and they must quickly leave the house permanently by next week.
The victim in the case was sophomore Hillary Holt, who has reported that she was made to drink so much alcohol by her sorority sisters that she passed out and woke up in hospital with a blood-alcohol content three times the legal limit of 0.08.

School spokeswoman Stephanie Reitz said in an email, "UConn has zero tolerance for hazing and all similarly harmful behaviors, and repeatedly makes those expectations clear to all student leaders in Greek life and other organizations. The university's decision to revoke Kappa Kappa Gamma's registration and recognition was not taken lightly, but it was appropriate and imperative in light of the severity of the circumstances."
A national representative has said that Kappa Kappa Gamma promises to appeal the decision. Elizabeth Baily, the national vice president of Kappa Kappa Gamma, said the incident was simply a result of "the poor decisions made by a few individuals" and the entire sorority did not deserve to be punished for the actions of the few individuals involved.
"Kappa views the punishment as extreme and plans to discuss an appeal with the chapter's leadership before the university's deadline," Baily said.
