UEFA Euro 2016 Croatia vs Spain Preview: Vatreni Meets La Roja Amid Investigation on Croatian Supporters; Kickoff, TV Info, Ticket Pricing and Live Stream
Croatia Slapped with £77,000 Fine for Unruly Supporters
It will be a tense UEFA Euro 2016 game between Croatia and Spain on Tuesday night after the Croatia Football Federation was fined due to the unruly behavior of their fans during the match against Czech Republic.
Rowdy Fans
UEFA officials now want to make sure that the trouble for the past two games of Croatia will not happen anymore when they meet Spain. Supporters of the Croatian team ran to the pitch during the opening game versus Turkey, which gave the former a 1-0 victory.
Fans became more unruly and fought during the 2-2 draw against Czech Republic, which was stopped four minutes before the match was over due to the commotion. This also caused Croatia to lose to the Czechs in the penalty kicks.
Croatia Fined for 'Terror' Incidents
Croatia was slapped with a £77,000 ($114,000) fine because of the firecrackers, flares and fighting of the crowd. UEFA will also not sell tickets to identified hooligans until the end of the tournament.
Croatia's coach Ante Cacic tagged the incidents as "terror" and claimed that those who caused trouble were not genuine supporters of the team. "I call them hooligans. They are not supporters. Their place is not in the stadium," he said.
Another struggle for the team coming into this game is missing Luka Modric. He will be replaced by Mateo Kovacic for Tuesday's matchup.
What is at Stake for Spain?
Spain, on the other hand, could opt to give Andres Iniesta some rest since they have already qualified for the next round, but the team would surely want to end up on top of Group D standing.
Coach Vicente del Bosque plans to score early noting that his players are well aware of what they need to do during the game. Bosque's squad are still aiming to claim victory for the Group Stage as it will be a confidence booster for them. A win will also increase their chances in Round of 16 for this year's Euro 2016.
Kickoff, TV info and Live Stream
The game will start at 8 p.m. at the 33,000-seater Matmut Atlantique Stadium in Bordeaux, France. Tickets for the live game cost between $87 to $700. It will also be shown in the U.K. via ITV 1 and with live stream on this link.
