UFC 194 News: Chael Sonnen Was Doubtful Jose Aldo Would Show Up, Brazilian Responds To McGregor's 'Spy In Camp' Comments

Two-division UFC title contender Chael Sonnen was skeptical about reigning UFC champion José Aldo's attendance on fight night at UFC 194. Meanwhile, Aldo has responded to interim champion Conor McGregor's press conference statement about having spies within the Nova Uñiao camp in Brazil.

In November, the brash-talking Sonnen had already declared that he was doubtful that Aldo would show up to fight McGregor. He added that he had "sources in Brazil" to confirm the news. Sonnen was present at the pre-fight press conference on Wednesday as a member of the ESPN broadcast team.

In an interview last Wednesday with MMA Fighting's Ariel Helwani, "The American Gangster" says he did not believe that José Aldo would be showing up on the night of the fight.

"You've got José Aldo, who clearly doesn't want to do the fight," Sonnen said in the interview. "You want breaking news? I'm not positive José Aldo's going to make weight."

"If he could find a way out of this fight right now, he would take it." Sonnen had added in the interview that until he actually sees Aldo on the scale, he remains positive that Conor McGregor would be left without an opponent on the night of December 12th.

However, the weigh-in did take place with both fighters present last night, Dec. 11. Both Aldo and McGregor made the weight at 145. When it was finished, UFC officials quickly separated them but not until they had exchanged some words.

Meanwhile, José Aldo has responded to challenger Conor McGregor's previous statements about having a spy within the Nova Uñiao camp. "The Notorious" always had a penchant for talking trash and psyching out his opponents through various antics.

During the April Press tour alone, wherein both men went through ten cities to promote the fight, McGregor has been talking a lot of smack.

For Aldo's part, his opponent has always been the "clown," adding having the said "spies" will not be a problem.

"His spies must be saying that I'm going to go in there and win the fight, so I'm very easy about that," Aldo said during the pre-fight press conference.

The co-main event of UFC 194 will be a middleweight title fight between champion Chris Weidman and Luke Rockhold.
