UFC 194 News: Conor McGregor Says Jose Aldo 'Celebrated' Prior To Irishman's Injury At UFC 189

UFC interim featherweight champion Conor McGregor has now revealed that José Aldo actually knew about the knee injury he sustained in camp and even planned to take advantage of the situation.

Three months after his title interim featherweight title fight against Chad Mendes at UFC 189 in July, McGregor disclosed a knee injury in the middle of camp.

In an October interview with MMA Fighting's Ariel Helwani, "The Notorious" detailed the extent of the said injury. "I could not walk," McGregor said.

There was a period in the camp where I couldn't even stand up straight. Two weeks before the fight, that was when I was throwing kicks again."

Unfortunately for the Aldo camp, the Brazilian undisputed champion was forced out of the bout due to an injury, two weeks before fight night. During the recent conference call in preparation for this weekend's UFC 194 event at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, the brash Irishman divulged what he believed to be the Aldo camp's reaction to his injury.

According to McGregor, the Brazilian and his team "celebrated" upon finding out about his situation, since it all happened during their World Press Tour in April.

"They knew it; their whole camp knew," McGregor said in Bloody Elbow report. "They celebrated and plotted a way to attack it."

The bad blood between Aldo and McGregor has been on a high since the press tour antics. Things got more heated during the Go Big press conference in September, when the two first saw each other since UFC 189.

For McGregor's part, he said he promised not to pull the same actions that Aldo was allegedly planning to. Instead, he says wanted to inflict damage in his own trademark manner.

"He bruised his rib and pulled out of the fight. I said to him, 'Show up and I won't target your body. I'll hit you clean in the face,' and he still didn't show up," McGregor said.

Co-headlining UFC 194 is a middleweight title fight between champion Chris Weidman and Luke Rockhold.
