'UFC 3' Release Date: Conor McGregor Revealed as Cover Athlete

To no one's surprise, lightweight champion Conor McGregor will grace the cover of "EA Sports UFC 3," which will be released on the PlayStation 4 (PS4) and Xbox One on Feb. 2 next year.

The Irishman is the only fighter in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) to hold two titles from different weight divisions simultaneously. He also holds the record for the quickest knockout, putting Jose Aldo to sleep in just 13 seconds.

McGregor has also established himself as the biggest pay-per-view (PPV) draw in all of mixed martial arts (MMA) fights and made history by taking on undefeated boxing champion Floyd Mayweather, so it comes as zero shock that he is "UFC 3" global cover athlete, which fans can get a glimpse of in the video below.

"UFC 3" features the new gameplay animation technology called Real Player Motion that offers "the most fluid and responsive motion" in the history of the franchise. This includes 5,000 animations that give players the realistic feel inside the Octagon. Electronic Arts (EA) had this to say about the new tech:

Every punch, kick, block, and counter has been recaptured and rebuilt on cutting-edge animation tech to look and feel life-like and responsive.

The new installment also has a lot of new things for players to experience including the new G.O.A.T. Career Mode, in which gamers will work to become the Greatest of All Time by promoting their fights and gaining popularity.

The decision of the players as they progress through this "UFC 3" mode will determine the run of their career. Along the way, they are bound to gain fans and even enemies.

The mode will also allow players to have their own persona, which means that they can trash talk their way to matches or be a man of few words and let their skills do the talking.

"UFC 3" will also a number of multiplayer modes including the Knockout Mode from the previous installment as well as Stand and Bang, Submission Showdown and Fight Now Custom.
