UFC News 2015: Analyst Joe Rogan Apologizes To Cyborg Justino For Inappropriate Joke
UFC analyst Joe Rogan recently issued an apology and took full responsibility for an inappropriate joke he made with comedian Tony Hinchcliffe during the post-UFC 193 episode of his podcast. The joke concerned the male genitalia.
Rogan, Hinchcliffe, and UFC president Dana White were then talking about a "roasting" session for mixed martial arts fighters. When the former "Fear Factor" host brought up the idea of roasting Invicta women's featherweight champion Cristiane "Cyborg" Justino, Hinchcliffe immediately went on to cite the allegations about the female fighter's alleged use of steroids and male hormones.
"She's the only person who makes weight by chopping off her ****," said Hinchcliffe.
In turn, Justino responded by threatening violence against Rogan and Hinchcliffe, noting that she would want to beat them both up "Brazilian style."
"Maybe in the next LA show," Justino said in a short video interview.
Just days after Cyborg made her comments, Rogan went on to issue an apology. In an interview with Stephie Haynes of Bloody Elbow, the veteran UFC color commentator says he regrets the words that were thrown around during the recording of their podcast.
"Well, if I had to do it again, I definitely wouldn't have made the joke," Rogan said.
Apart from being a part of the UFC's broadcast panel, Rogan is also a full-time comedian who has been in the scene since the 80's. And according to him, his conversation with Hinchcliffe regarding Cyborg was mainly in a comedic context and should be taken with a grain of salt.
He also adds that they were under the influence of a little alcohol when the podcast was recorded.
"I shouldn't have said it, but it's what you say if you're hanging around with comedians, you know? It's what we do," Rogan explained. "Plus, I had a couple of drinks. It was just a dumb thing to do, and I certainly didn't mean it with any malice."
