UFC News 2015: Fight Night 77 Results - Vitor Belfort settles the score with Henderson
Former UFC heavyweight champion Vitor Belfort emerges victorious in his rubber match against fellow veteran and former PRIDE FC middleweight champion Dan Henderson.
The 38-year old Brazilian fighter did a repeat of his second fight with "Hendo" in 2013, as he once again ended the fight with a head kick knock out in the first round. In a report by Bloody Elbow, the time of the stoppage was at the 2:07 minute mark.
"The Phenom" faced Henderson for the first time in 2006 at PRIDE 32, where he was dominated to a unanimous decision defeat. He last saw action in May at UFC 187, in a title fight against current middleweight champion Chris Weidman. He lost the fight by first round TKO.
In another report by MMA Fighting, Belfort was coming into the fight haunted by some drug test issues that go far back as 2012, before his title fight against former light heavyweight champion Jon Jones at UFC 152.
Henderson, meanwhile, is coming off a victory over another middleweight veteran in Tim Boetsch. The two men fought in June, where Henderson won by first round knockout.
While both fighters have already been in active competition since the late 90's, neither one of them have shown any signs of slowing down. In Belfort's case, a win only opened his doors for another title run in the UFC.
He does, however, plan to face another fighter whom he had already fought in the past, but seems to have personal issues with. In another report by Bloody Elbow, Belfort says he wants another crack at former Strikeforce champion Luke Rockhold.
"There's a guy, Luke Rockhold, that keeps talking a lot. He's talking a lot, he's a talker. Disrespectful guy. Really good, talented, but... I've got my eye on him."
Rockhold is slated to face middleweight champion Chris Weidman at the co-main event slot at UFC 194 on December 12th in Las Vegas.
