'Uncharted' Movie News, Cast & Update: Movie Similar to 'Indiana Jones'? Neil Druckman Believes Casting for Elena, Nate and Sully Should Be 'Perfect'
Sony is Working on a Movie Based on Hit Game 'Uncharted'
The idea of an "Uncharted" movie based on Naughty Dog's highly successful game is in the pipelines for the last couple of years. Sony is still working on developing the film while ideas for main actor roles and the plot of the story has been highly debated.
Sony Pictures Hack Reveal 'Uncharted' Movie Comparable to 'Indiana Jones'
During the massive Sony Pictures hack, details about the "Uncharted" movie were put on WikiLeaks including the script. Voice actor Nolan North stated that those who have seen the movie script are comparing it with "Indiana Jones" and "National Treasure." However, the script development is still ongoing and there will be a lot of changes.
There was a time when North would have been up to play the role of Drake in the movie but thinks he is getting too old. North also believes that by the time "Uncharted" will make it to production, he might be the same age as Sully, a major character and one of Drake's friends in the franchise.
Elena, Nate and Sully Casting Should be Just Right for "Uncharted" Movie
"Uncharted" game director Neil Druckman spoke to IGN and said that the casting of Elena, Nate and Sully should be prioritized. Their relationships, after all, are vital for the story and casting actors that have chemistry will make the film "work."
The progress for the "Uncharted" film has been rather slow. Druckman himself said that there hasn't been any update on the film for more than a year and a half.
Speculated Actors to Play Nathan Drake
Mark Wahlberg has been hailed as one of the candidates for Drake. However, North was skeptical about the actor's ability to bring the "Uncharted" video game character to life. He believes that Chris Pratt would make a more believable treasure hunter as he referenced Pratt's work in "Guardians of the Galaxy." However, the Star-Lord actor reportedly turned down the role when the studio offered him the role.
If the rumors are true, do you think Mark Wahlberg would make a convincing Nathan Drake for the film?
