'Unchartered 4: A Thief's End' to Get 'The Last of Us'-Inspired DLC

Sony has recently announced its upcoming video game, "Unchartered 4: A Thief's End" will be getting a DLC inspired by "The Last of Us."

Naughty Dog and Sony Computer Entertainment's final game in the "Unchartered" franchise, "Unchartered 4: A Thief's End" has already been announced for an expansion pack in a single player mode.

According to video game developer, Naughty Dog, the post-launch content for the upcoming action-adventure game is the first ever single player DLC expansion in the series, to follow the similar single player story expansion used in "The Last of Us," the critically acclaimed survival horror video game Naughty Dog released in 2013.

A single player expansion for "The Last of Us," titled "Left Behind," was well received by players, fans, and critics of the game, particularly for the presence of LGBT characters, and a change in perspective with players controlling secondary character, Ellie instead of Joel in a DLC set largely in a shopping mall. Naughty Dog is hoping for a repeat of the same experience by doing something similar with "A Thief's End."

"A Thief's End," which represents the last of protagonist Nathan Drake's adventures, is due to be released early next year, and the planned post-launch single player content will be made available separately, but will also form part of the developer's "Unchartered Triple Pack," which will also include two multiplayer-mode DLCs.

Details of the single player DLC have yet to be shared by Naughty Dog, with speculations the developer will decline to do so until the fourth main installment in the "Unchartered" franchise is finally released to avoid any spoilers leaking.

If "A Thief's End" will be following the "Last of Us: Left Behind" formula, players will be able to switch perspectives and be able to control another main character in the game, such as Nathan's brother Sam, or even his wife, Elena. However, this possible development has yet to be confirmed.

"Unchartered 4: A Thief's End" is scheduled for a PlayStation 4 exclusive release on March 18, 2016.
