'Under the Dome' Season 2: Rachelle Lefevre Shares Spoilers for Season Finale, No Word Yet for Third Season Renewal

The season 2 finale of "Under the Dome" airs on Monday, yet fans still have so many questions about the series, particularly, if the characters will ever get to escape from the dome. And moreover, what's the real deal with the magical egg?

Actress Rachelle Lefevre, who plays Julia Shumway on the show, revealed some choice spoilers in a recent interview with TVLine.

Lefevre revealed that the tunnel to Zenith could be instrumental towards helping those trapped inside the dome to escape.

"It will be involved massively. There is evidence of the possibility of escape," said Lefevre. "Obviously, Barbie left. And came back. So there is evidence that it is possible. If you know you can get out, you're going to try."

She also explained how the egg affects Melanie and Julia, and how it works differently for the two women.

"Melanie has all the same feelings that Julia has. She feels connected to the egg, but she can't explain it. She wants to protect it; she doesn't know why … When bad things happen to the egg or when she [Melanie] is separated from it, her health fails, whereas my character has been shot, impaled … stabbed in the ribcage to make a puncture-hole for air in her chest cavity. And somehow, against all physical odds, I'm ok," she explained.

As of the moment, there has been no word yet from CBS whether the show will be renewed for a third season, but according to CBS' Les Moonves, the show has been making a tidy profit, and that it also has reportedly set up a good deal with Amazon Prime for new episodes.

Though ratings have been down for the second season, Moonves said that "it doesn't matter … The [financial] model is almost perfect," which could mean that there's a strong chance that "Under the Dome" could get greenlit for another season.

Watch the season 2 finale of "Under the Dome" on Sept. 22 on CBS.
