Upcoming HTC Tablets 2015: New 7-Inch Android Slate Dubbed H7 Spotted in Indian Import Website
HTC has not been known for its Android tablets. Through the years, the Taiwanese manufacturer has released less than 10 tablets in total. However, with the success achieved by the HTC Nexus 9, the company could be planning to bank on its good fortune.
According to a recent report by GSM Arena, an entry-level Android slate, codenamed H7, has recently been spotted on India's import website Zauba.
Based on the listing, the HTC H7 will pack a 7-inch display, 1GB of RAM, a quad-core CPU clocked at 1.2GHz, and a 16GB built-in memory. Other features include dual-SIM support, and a price tag of about INR 9,565 or about $150. That means, the retail price for the upcoming HTC slate should be in the sub-$200 range.
While HTC is doing little in the tablet market, the Taiwan-based company has been working hard to release Android handsets that will sell in Asia. It has a number of competitors, particularly Korean brands such as Samsung and LG, as well as Chinese manufacturers like Xiaomi, Huawei, Lenovo, and others.
In India, the smartphone market is also becoming more competitive with local brands and international companies taking their respective pieces of the pie. Samsung, Micromax, OnePlus and other local mobile phone makers are some of the popular options.
As a result, HTC's decision to launch a tablet could be a good move to slowly become a presence in the Asian subcontinent.
