UPS Worker Steals iPad Mini Christmas Gift Delievered By Fed Ex
A homeowner recently discovered that a UPS worker robbed a Federal Express package from his Houston, TX doorstep.
Al Alverson and his wife Sandra Alverson were expecting two Christmas gifts that they ordered online to arrive via Federal Express and UPS respectively. However, Alverson discovered that his daughter's iPad Mini was missing despite the fact the Federal Express website was notifying him that it had been delivered.
Alverson reviewed a surveillance video from a camera that he installed above his doorstep three years ago and watched a UPS worker take the iPad package that Federal Express had delivered to him earlier.
"It said it was delivered at 9:29 a.m. So I go up and I have a DVR with all the cameras on it to take a look," Alverson told KHOU news in Houston, Texas. "I said, 'oh my god,' it is the UPS guy."
Alverson said he decided to contact the network after he was unsatisfied with the UPS response to his complaint about their employee. The homeowner decided to upload a video of the theft to YouTube, before telling his story to KHOU 11.
After thousands viewed the clip of the UPS worker committing theft from Alverson, many took to YouTube to comment on the video. Some people questioned why the thief would compromise his job saying, "(Stealing while) having a good job that's just ridiculous..."
While others blamed UPS for the incident, some defended the company.
"It isn't the company, in this case it is the individual," another person commented on YouTube. "I have received hundreds of deliveries from both companies on the same day without this sort of incident."
After taking matters into his own hands, Alverson said UPS agreed to replace his iPad while UPS told KHOU 11 News that the employee who stole the package from the homeowner was identified and fired.
