Utah Jazz, Dallas Mavericks NBA Trade Rumors: Jazz Have Expressed Interest in Reacquiring Deron Williams
Years ago, Deron Williams was supposed to be the next great Jazz point guard after John Stockton retired. But things did not work out and they ended up trading him to the then-New Jersey Nets in 2011. Williams spent the best years of his career in Utah and he might just get the chance to go back if he gets traded before the trade window closes.
ESPN has reported that the Jazz have expressed interest in bringing Williams back to the fold after the Dallas Mavericks placed him and center Andrew Bogut on the trading block. However, the Mavs will need Williams' consent if they want to move him thanks to the one-year deal he signed during the offseason. He will have to waive his free-agent Bird rights if he is traded.
The possibility of his return to Utah is certainly intriguing. Many fans would love to see the prodigal son return. Williams was simply brilliant during his days with the Jazz and he was even considered one of the top point guards in the league before he left. His career has taken a turn for the worse since then, but Williams has redefined himself as a role player with the Mavericks.
