'Vampire Diaries' Season 6 Episode 16 Spoilers, Plot News: Ian Somerhalder Takes the Reins (VIDEO)
Season 6 of "The Vampire Diaries" is scheduled to return to CW next month, with Ian Somelhalder playing an important part in the series.
When American supernatural drama, "The Vampire Diaries" resumes its Season 6 run on CW with Episode 16 on March 12, Damon Salvatore, played by Ian Somerhalder, will be taking on a new role on the television series.
Somerhalder has brainstormed an episode for the show, and has described his taking the creative reins for the episode as the "coolest thing ever."
"I had an incredible story that Brian Young and Caroline Dries wrote. And literally a group of my – my cast – my brothers and sisters, everyone had my back," the 36-year-old actor was quoted as saying at Cleveland Comic Con's Wizard World's Convention. "It was the coolest environment to learn in, and thank you Warner Bros for the couple million bucks to spend really creating an incredible 42 minutes of television. It was my favorite professional experience ever."
In the last episode, "Let Her Go," Damon Salvatore delivered a poignant eulogy for Sheriff Liz Forbes, while Caroline started consciously shutting down all feelings and emotions to cope with the loss of her mother. Caroline ends up breaking Elena's neck after Elena's appeals to get her to cope with grief in a healthier manner fall on deaf ears.
Stefan, about to share his romantic feelings towards Caroline, has stumbled upon Elena's body. Both he and Damon have also discovered their mother a prisoner in another world. Jo and Alaric get engaged after Jo transfers her power to Kai, and discovers her pregnancy.
Julie Plec, the show's executive producer revealed a spoiler for the upcoming episode, "Let Her Go," with a focus on Caroline, who will be making an appearance at the March 12 episode.
Caroline will be discarding her humanity with Bonnie's return, which leads to the final chapter of Season 6 unfolding.
