'Vampire Diaries" Season 7 spoilers: Damon will land in pretty big trouble, TVD to end at Season 7?
When Nina Dobrev left "The Vampire Diaries" for a stint in films, fans speculated as to what would happen to Damon. Without Elena's help, how will he survive in Mystic Falls? More so the question is: Will the franchise end?
With the announcement that Season 7 of "The Vampire Diaries" is on, the creators of the show have factored Nina's exit into the script. The core romance of Damon and Elena is halted by Elena going into a six-to-seven decade coma. This leaves a lot of scope for Damon's character to go any which way.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, showrunner Julie Plec says, "The fundamental romance has hit the biggest roadblock of all-time in the form of a six to seven-decade coma. But there's something beautiful in the poetry of that. Damon's wild spirit and having to keep himself tame to wait for the girl -- which of course that [wild spirit] is the Damon we met in season one – he was waiting for the girl. It's just a matter of what he gets up to as he's waiting for the girl that could get him into trouble. And I mean murderous trouble."
So post-Elena, Damon will be going back to his wild ways and getting into trouble, most probably through a female character, luring him down the dangerous path.
This seventh season will also see Damon and the heretics confront each other. Julie Plec believes that the Heretics have developed nicely along all these seasons of "The Vampire Diaries".
About the heretics, Plec says, "They fight like cats and dogs, and they fight for each other and against each other all the time. It's fun to watch them do their thing. They have no regard for the rest of the people in the community, and they have no regard for Stefan and Damon, who they consider to be the stepsiblings they don't want to know."
Stefan and Caroline might team up but their relationship might flounder because of the malicious doing-ons of others.
'The Vampire Diaries" remains one of The CW's top-rated shows but has seen a decline in viewership in the recent seasons. Even though Season 7 has been commissioned, the franchise might be brought to an end.
All depends on how it fares in the upcoming season.
