'Veep' Season 6: Selina Seeks to Secure Her Legacy Post-Presidency
The previous season of the political comedy series "Veep" may have shown Selina's (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) defeat, but the upcoming 10-episode sixth season will feature the former president's return to life outside of public office.
The first three episodes of the upcoming season show Selina's attempts to secure her legacy and find her place in the world now that she's no longer in office. And along with her, her former staff will also be pursuing individual endeavors with varying degrees of success and failure.
Episode 1 titled "Omaha" picks up a year after Selina lost the presidency and features her taking the first steps towards securing her legacy. On the other hand, Dan (Reid Scott) will also be trying to ingratiate himself at his new job on CBS, while Amy (Anna Chlumsky) lands a new job but may find it hard to find new friends with her brash D.C.-style personality.
Episode 2 titled "Library" will have Selina attending the opening of President Hughes' library while Jonah (Timothy Simons) may start pursuing an ambition to rise in the political ranks after getting some ample advice. Dan, on the other hand, will have to suffer through Jane's (Margaret Colin) whims, while Amy decides to release an attack ad.
In episode 3 titled "Georgia," Selina will volunteer to help out in monitoring the first free and democratic election in the country of Georgia. This endeavor will incidentally reunite her with an old friend, whose identity has not been revealed in the synopsis. On the other hand, Mike (Matt Walsh) and Gary (Tony Hale) will try to hide a significant evidence of a major mishap, while Jonah and Richard (Sam Richardson) find themselves spending quite an eventful night out together.
"Veep" season 6 will reportedly not be dabbling too much in real-life politics, as revealed by Louis-Dreyfus herself during the 2017 South by Southwest (SXSW) Festival in a panel moderated by Chuck Todd of Meet the Press.
"We've set up this alternative political universe for our show. We don't have any real-life celebrities or journalists on, and in terms of actual political history, we don't really reference anybody beyond Regan," Louis-Dreyfus added.
"Veep" returns on air on Sunday, April 16 at 10:30 p.m. EDT on HBO.
