Veggietales & Mission City Press Join Forces For St. Jude's Dream Home
Franklin, Tenn.-based Big Idea Inc. and Mission City Press A Life of Faith will support the St. Jude Dream Home Giveaway by decorating two bedrooms within the home. The first-ever Dream Home in the Nashville area will be built in Franklins Westhaven development with Southern Land Company organizing the homes.
Big Idea, which is best known for its award-winning VeggieTales animated series, will be supporting the giveaway by taking over a bedroom at St. Judes Dream Home and transforming it into a fun and kid-friendly space filled with the VeggieTales characters, such as Bob the Tomato and Larry the Cucumber.
We are excited to work along side St. Jude in this Dream Home Giveaway, says Bob Starnes, Vice President of Publishing and Consumer Products for Big Idea. Since relocating to Franklin from the Chicago area we have sought out opportunities such as this where we can serve and give back to the communities in which we reside. Biblical values that families appreciate will be reinforced inside this one of a kind bedroom. As a child is preparing for bed, we want to reinforce the message that God made them special and loves them very much.
Also participating in the St. Judes Dream Home Giveaway is Mission City Press, which owns the Beginners Bible and A Life of Faith brands for children. Mission City Press is decorating a bedroom in the Dream Home with its A Life of Faith books, dolls and accessories for girls 8-14 years of age.
We are honored to have this unique opportunity to help St. Judes raise funds to support its vital research and medical care for children, said Sandi Shelton, President & Publisher of Mission City Press. Mission City Press, Big Idea, and St. Judes share a common missionto impart life, hope, and joy to children.
Our A Life of Faith historical fiction novels feature ordinary girls that must exercise extraordinary faith in order to overcome major challenges in their everyday lives, Shelton continued. The role models in the A Life of Faith stories become timeless friends that help kids imagine and experience what it means to live a lifestyle of faith. We hope our characters will inspire the children of St. Judes, who are facing very difficult circumstances, to persevere and not lose hope in their personal trials.
Tickets are now on sale to the general public for $100 each, and a limit of only 10,000 will be sold. St. Judes goal is to sell 10,000 $100 tickets, raising $1,000,000 for children battling cancer. One in 500 ticket buyers will win a prize, either the Dream Home, valued at $450,000, or one of 19 other prizes, which include a Triton Boat with Mercury Motor valued at over $40,000, a Digital Grand Piano, courtesy of Steinway Piano Gallery and other prizes valued at a minimum of $1,000.
Winners of the St. Jude Dream Home and other prizes will be drawn on a live giveaway special on sponsor Fox-17 TV and announced live on radio sponsor The Big 98-WSIX, on June 26. Additional sponsors include Southern Land Company, Roadway Express, and First Tennessee.
St. Jude has treated more than 7,000 young cancer patients from Tennessee at no cost to their families, said Kal Helou, a Nashville attorney and chairman of the fund drive. I encourage all Tennesseans to support the work of this hospital founded by Danny Thomas.
