'Venom' News, Release Date: Production Delayed Anew

After being delayed previously, work on Sony's "Venom" solo film has been pushed back yet again. The film had originally intended to start production early September but was postponed to later this month. However, it was recently confirmed that "Venom" would not start shooting until the last week of October.

Sony announced the upcoming "Venom" solo movie back in May. It will be directed by Ruben Fleischer and will star "Dunkirk's" Tom Hardy. While previous reports about it seemed to suggest that production for the film was already taking off, a new one confirmed that it has not even begun.

Production on the upcoming movie reportedly got delayed due to the lack of available camera crews in the city where filming is set to kick off. Originally, the film was expected to start with production on Sept. 1, and then it was moved to late September. Now, it has been confirmed that filming will not begin until Oct. 23 in Atlanta, Georgia.

"Venom" is slated for release on October of next year, and the recent delays in its production will reportedly not affect this. According to reports, while the production has been pushed back time and again, the movie will still continue to come together, starting with the announcement that Hardy would be the one to top-bill and Fleischer to direct. Recently, Riz Ahmed was also linked to a role in the upcoming movie.

The "Venom" production team has reportedly been scouting for possible shooting locations aside from Atlanta, where the film is currently looking for more people to make up the production's camera crew. Recent reports also suggest that New York has been added to the film, with San Francisco also being considered as a potential shooting site.

"Venom" is expected to hit theaters on Oct. 5, 2018, before "Aquaman" and "X-Men: Dark Phoenix."
