Verizon New Unlimited Data Plan vs. T-Mobile One Unlimited Data Plan Comparison: Magenta Carrier Unveils a Revamped Plan

After Verizon brought back its eye-popping new unlimited plan, T-Mobile was quick to match it by changing things up in its own unlimited plan. What do these two carriers now offer?

Verizon allows high-definition video streaming in its unlimited plan without extra charge. Prior to responding to this, T-Mobile charged customers $3 on any day they do high-definition (HD) streaming. Users also had the option to pay $15 per month for "unlimited HD passes" in the One Plus unlimited plan, but these days will soon be over.

T-Mobile CEO John Legere has announced that starting Feb. 17, T-Mobile One subscribers will not have to worry about shelling out extra to experience HD.

This means that the unlimited plan of the magenta carrier for a single line stays at $70 a month even though HD streaming has been added. This makes Verizon's monthly pricing higher at $80.

Another modification that T-Mobile made in response to Verizon's unlimited plan has to do with the hotspot feature. Before the change, the former only allowed 3G hotspot unless users pay extra for Long Term Evolution (LTE) tethering.

Now, T-Mobile One unlimited plan users will also finally get to use their devices for LTE hotspot with up to 10 GB of high-speed data, the same amount that Verizon offers.

As usual, T-Mobile and Verizon offer unlimited talk, texting and data. However, hitting the respective data limits set by the carrier will result in a decrease in speed.

Luckily for T-Mobile One unlimited plan subscribers, the cap is at 28 GB. Verizon users will start to see the speed slow down when they hit 22 GB.

As for additional lines, T-Mobile's pricing is $100 per month for the first two lines, $47 per month each for three lines or $40 each for four lines.

Verizon charges $80 per month for the first line and $45 per month for each additional line.
