Verizon Offers 7-Inch Samsung Galaxy Tab for $50 Fire Sale Price

With the release of the second generation 7-inch Samsung Galaxy Tab quickly approaching, Verizon has decided to offer the current version for just $50 with a new 2-year contract.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 is set to launch on the carrier on April 22.

Any original Galaxy Tab 7.0 purchased before that date will have the fire sale price.

Verizon normally offers this device for $229.99, so customers taking advantage of the sale can save $180.00 and pick up a top-of-the-line tablet. Verizon is also undercutting other popular small tablets such as the Amazon Kindle Fire and Barnes and Noble Nook that are priced at $199 and $249.

The Galaxy Tab features both front and rear-cameras, Bluetooth stereo, and an included 16GB microSD card.

Samsung recently announced that its new line of Ice Cream Sandwich-powered Galaxy Tab 2's will be launching in the U.S. in the near future.

The 7-inch version of the Galaxy Tab 2 is expected to retail at $249.99 in the U.S., with the 10.1-inch model selling for $399.99.

Both of them will come with Android 4.0, Ice Cream Sandwich pre-installed along with many other exciting features.

"The Galaxy Tab 2 Series, available in both 10.1" and 7.0" screen sizes, are powerful dual-core tablets running the latest version of Android –Ice Cream Sandwich," said Samsung in a press release. "The devices feature an integrated IR blaster for universal remote capabilities, as well as an easily accessible memory card slot for convenient loading of multimedia files in a range of supported file formats."

The Galaxy Tab 2 line was unveiled by Samsung at this year's Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain.

The 7-inch version is currently available for pre-order and ships on April 22 and customers will be able to reserve the 10.1-inch version on May 4, with the launch date being on May 13.
