Veterans Day 2011: Businesses Nationwide Honor Service Members With Top Deals
While many restaurants and coffee shops across the country offer free or discounted meals to veterans on Veterans Day 2011, The Christian Post has put together a list of other discounted offers on the menu today for members of the nation's armed forces.
Hugo is giving out 36,000 canes today to Veterans in need of walking support. The Hugo Folding Cane is available at locations across the United States from Nov. 9, 2011 through Nov.11, 2011, while supplies last.
This metallic blue cane supports up to 250 pounds, and features an ergonomic soft-grip handle for superior comfort. It suits both left and right-handed users; it also unfolds automatically and locks into place. The cane has multiple height settings that fit most people between 5 feet – 6 fee, 3 inches in height.
"The Hugo Salutes Our Veterans Program has been established to recognize the support and efforts the members of the United States Armed Forces made and continue to make for our country," reads a statement on Hugo's website.
The Hugo Folding Cane that will be given out retails for $29.99. Proof of military service may be required.
Fee Free Day at National Parks
Nature lovers can freeride on Veterans Day, as over 100 national parks remain open with free admission from Nov. 11 through Nov. 13 for service members.
"To honor America's service men and women, Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar announced that areas managed by the National Park Service would not charge entrance fees for Veterans Day weekend – November 11-13, 2011. Over 100 national Parks will be participating in this event," a statemen on the National Parks Service website reads.
The books and music retailing giant, Amazon.com, offers a free download of a holiday-themed album, "Veterans Day Honor" in MP3 format. The album contains pieces performed by military bands.
Knotts Berry Farm Military Tribute Days
Knotts Berry Farm officials have announced a discounted period called "Military Tribute Days," which stretches from Nov. 1 to Thanksgiving on Nov. 24. It is the company's annual tribute to the U.S. Military, "past and present."
The promotion offers free admission for veterans or current serving military personnel, and one guest.
Colonial Williamsburg Free Admission
Colonial Williamsburg offers free admission from Nov.11 through Nov. 13 to active-duty military members, reservists, retirees, veterans, and their immediate dependants. The program, dubbed "Honoring Service to America," offers free day-long tickets to exhibition sites, art museums, and most daytime programs, plus free parking.
