According to Carter Matt, Ragnar was seen telling his son that one day the world will know and fear him. Meanwhile, Ragnar's other son, Bjorn, played by Alexander Ludwig, was also seen in the feature reflecting about his identity and purpose.

With the rise of Ragnar's sons, there are speculations that this could be the end of Ragnar's reign. Fimmel also shared some teasers that hint at the storyline of Ragnar during an interview with IGN. He said that the upcoming episodes will bring a lot of changes to Ragnar's life.

He said, "Everything's changed around him, including him. Changed for the worst. I feel like it always seem like he's let down or he doesn't have the support of the people anymore. He doesn't know who to trust. The reasons is not what he thought he was doing it for. Everything that's occurring is not why he started doing these adventures. It's all for different reasons now – other people's reasons, not Ragnar's reasons. So he's lost the beauty. He feels like the beauty of it's all gone."

There has yet to be any details regarding the return of "Vikings" Season 4.
