'Vikings' Season 6 Spoilers: History Channel Orders 20-Episode Season 6
It will still take a while before The History Channel released the premiere episode of "Vikings" season 5, but the cable channel already revealed that the historical drama will return for season 6.
Reports revealed that History ordered a 20-episode renewal of the show that is set to start filming in Ireland this fall. One of the episodes will be directed by series regular Katheryn Winnick, the actress who portrays the role of Lagertha in the show.
Series creator Michael Hirst released a statement after the network confirmed the season 6 order for the show, saying that he is grateful for the opportunity to work with History Channel and MGM for the last five years.

"Now we are ready to begin production of a 20 episode season six that will deliver a huge and unexpected revelation to our audience," Hirst also said in the statement that was posted by Variety. "There are many reasons why I love this show, not least for the commitment and creativity of everyone involved in making it, but perhaps even more important is the spirit that drives this production – one of the happiest, most collaborative and most authentic productions I have ever been involved with. And so we sail on."
Hirst also revealed through an interview with Indian Express that they are also preparing to bring the set of "Vikings" in Russia for season 6, explaining that the country got its name from the rough Vikings who discovered the land.
The series creator also said that the cast and crew love going different countries to narrate the story of the Norse seafarers. In the previous season, the series featured Iceland and Morocco since a group of Vikings went there.
Another news from Deadline revealed that Russian actor Danila Kozlovsky has been casted to portray the role of Oleg Novgorod, also known as Oleg the Prophet in "Vikings" season 6.
Before the production of season 6 begins, History will air the first half of "Vikings" season 5 on Wednesday, Nov. 29. The second half is expected to air sometime in 2018.
