'Vikings - Wolves of Midgard' Action RPG: Introductory Trailer Showcases Gameplay, Features
"Vikings – Wolves of Midgard," Kalypso Media's newest action role-playing game, is now available for download in different platforms for the European gamers. It was also released in North America this March 28.
To celebrate the game's debut, the developer has also released a two-minute video trailer that showcases the RPG's gameplay and main features.
In "Vikings – Wolves of Midgard," players have the ability to choose which role they want to take. They can be a Viking or a shieldmaiden from the Ulfung clan. According to RP Gamer, the battle against the Jotan takes place in the pre-Ragnarok era, where bloodthirsty beasts raid the land. Midgard is in a bad place and only the Ulfungs can save it. The Wolves of Midgard will fight off the combined forces of the Fire and Frost Giants as they seek to destroy the village.

The protagonist in the game is the clan chief. The mission is simple – save Midgard from annihilation, defeat the enemies and vanquish the creatures of the Fimbulwinter. Survival will depend on the types of weapons a player wields. There are a lot to choose from – swords, axes, hammers, and bows. Spells may be casted to defeat the adversaries as well.
Throughout the game, legendary items will be up for grabs. Additional loot can also be earned via the "Trial of the Gods" mode. This variant will give the gamer a chance to earn more prizes, but it will not be easy.
According to Hardcore Gamer, the RPG is worth the wait. The details and designs included, especially in the battle scenes, are reportedly intricate and stunning. The graphics and soundtrack used are also commendable. Kalypso Media reportedly created a fast-paced winner.
"Vikings plays exactly how someone would expect a Diablo-inspired action RPG to play. It doesn't revolutionize the genre by any stretch of the imagination, but does a fantastic job of successfully implementing what makes this formula fun while adding enough unique elements so it doesn't feel like just another rehash of the dozens of games in this style out there," the website states.
"Vikings – Wolves of Midgard" is available for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
