'The Walking Dead' Season 8 Release Date, Plot News: Spoilers Claim Glenn, Fan-Favorite Character To Return?

"The Walking Dead" season 8 is now the center of attention following the season 7 finale, which featured a Sasha (Sonequa Martin-Green) walker, a face-mauling tiger and the beginning of a war, has come and gone.

The Walking Dead Season 8 will premiere in the fall of 2017, and it has been confirmed that fans can expect another 16 episodes in the new season.

It is almost a given that TWD Season 8 will have a release date in October 2017, as October is tradtionally when the show premieres.

Usually the show has landed in mid to late October, so many Walking Dead blogs are betting on October 8, 15, or 22nd being the most likely dates for the Season 8 premiere, however, it would be wrong to completely rule out October 1 or 29 also taking the slot later this year.

The season 7 finale featured a cameo from Michael Cudlitz, reprising his role as the now-dead Abraham in Sasha's flashbacks as she is slowly killed by the pill concocted by Eugene (Josh McDermitt).

This had many wondering if Steven Yeun could also reprise his role as Glenn in "The Walking Dead," something that executive producer Scott Gimple talked about in a chat with TV Line.

The EP said that it is "certainly possible," adding that "I'd be silly to say it isn't." The character is imagined to be brought back for a flashback or some sort of vision that has to do with Maggie's (Lauren Cohan) pregnancy.

However, if that will be the case, Gimple warned that Glenn's appearance will unlikely happen in "The Walking Dead" season 8, considering the situation.

"She might not be that close," Gimple pointed out about Maggie giving birth. "Things have been moving pretty quickly, but not a lot of time has passed," he went on to say.

Nevertheless, it looks like fans will see Glenn one more time in "The Walking Dead." It might not be next season, but it appears that it is planned to happen down the road.

"The Walking Dead" season 8 is expected to stage the war between the survivors and the saviors. Those who read the comics by Robert Kirkman where the show is based would know that things will get bloody.

They also know that after the events of the season 7 finale, there is a time jump. Gimple knows that those who follow Kirkman's work will be expecting this.

"We're doing the book, we do all sorts of variations on it, and then we do things that are inspired by it and then we change things up with a remix," Gimple told The Hollywood Reporter.

"But I will say there are things that happen in that time jump that are referred to that are super interesting. And thus we might see some of that stuff; it might not be the same sort of jump, or we'll do that two to five years in real time," he went on to say.
