Oklahoma City Thunder forward Kevin Durant won the first Most Valuable Player award of his stellar career on Tuesday. Over Durant's first seven seasons, he's been a five-time All-Star and four-time scoring champion.

The 25-year-old, who has been outspoken about his faith in Jesus, opened his acceptance speech with a heavenly focus.

"First off, I'd like to thank God for changing my life," Durant said. "It let me really realize what life is all about. Basketball is just a platform for me to inspire people, and I realize that."

The crowd responded with cheers. The newly minted MVP then paid tribute, through tears and jokes, to his teammates, telling them how much cares for and loves them. He went on to honor his coaches, fans and family, calling his mother "the real MVP."
