'Wayward Pines' news: Creator says there's hope for a season 2

As fans continue to mourn FOX's decision to pull the plug on "Wayward Pines," a recent report suggests that there could be hope for the second season to air.

In a recent interview with Fox 5 NY, creator and executive producer M. Night Shyamalan said there is indeed a possibility for a pickup from where the season finale ended.

Shyamalan said he has been talking to the author and writers so they can settle with an end and how they can work backward on the story. If they come up with a perfect draft, Shyamalan said "I'll do it." He pointed out that he is only waiting for "an end point," just as any other TV shows.

Season 1's finale saw Ben coming out of his coma after three long years. Ethan, the protagonist, was killed by the Abbies (a term in short for "aberration") so the rest of the town can be protected. The final hour of the finale titled "Cycle" also revealed that each and every person in Wayward Pines was being monitored.

Venture Capital Post reports that a lot of canceled shows could either be resurrected by the same network or be acquired by streaming giants such as Hulu or Netflix, so fans who have been chanting for the return of Wayward Pines should not lose hope.

Shyamalan also told Deadline earlier that if the series indeed gets resurrected, he will be working with author Blake Crouch for a sophomore season that will definitely satisfy fans, possibly even more than how they were affected by the previous season.

Meanwhile, sad news broke through fans of the show as a report suggested that Shyamalan will be working on another project, which means if there is a plan to revive the show, the original creator might not be up for the revival.

Several outlets said Shyamalan will be working on the sequel of "The Last Airbender," and another unnamed thriller. Another issue is that FOX has not confirmed if it is planning a second season for the hit and well-loved series.
