The Abbies triumph over humans in the third season of "Wayward Pines." In the finale episode of Season 2, it has been made clear that the evolution of the Abbies is not reversible.

A New Breed Of Abbies

A time jump for a thousand years is set once the third season kicks in. The Abbies during this time are of a different breed. They have become smarter and a thousand years is enough for them to plan about the future. It may be that they are smater than humans once they breed.

There are unexpected deaths of characters in this upcoming season. A report indicate that Dr. Theo Yedlin will (Jason Patric) die in the series along with CJ Mitchmum (Djimo Hounsou). Both characters have risked their lives for the people and eventually will face their own deaths.

Additionally, while the old characters face their deaths, there are new ones that will come into the scene. The awakening of the new Abbies is expected to bring in more characters to create a new angle and hurdles to the story.

In a report M. Night Shyamalan has noted that he will focus on the human behavior. The fight to survive from the last of the human race is raging. He added that the interaction of humans and the Abbies will be a wild one.

The Abbies will make it challenging for the human race to survive. Season 3 will have a new breed of neither humans nor Abbies. It seems that the baby that was cradled when season 2 concluded may not be an Abbie after all. 

Humans On The Verge Of Extinction

Human instinct is survival. Once the new breed wakes up on a different era, humans will have a new race of enemies. It seems that the third season will bring in more competition on who will survive and live on earth.
