'West Side Story' 50th Anniversary Edition Blu-ray Box Set Now on Sale
Beloved Musical Also Screening in Theaters Nationwide Wednesday
To mark the 50th anniversary of one of stage and screen's most beloved musicals, "West Side Story," MGM has released a completely restored Blu-ray set Wednesday. In addition, the musical is being screened on theaters nationwide just for the anniversary.
Although the Blu-ray version of the popular Broadway play is now available, interested buyers can only pre-order "West Side Story," as the product will not actually ship until Nov. 15.
Amazon was selling the Blu-ray special 50th anniversary addition for $18.99, with the item also eligible for free "Super Saver Shipping" if buyers spend at least $25.
In addition to being available on Blu-ray, "West Side Story" is also being screened by Turner Classic Movies (TCM) in theaters across the U.S.

The popular NBC musical comedy series "Glee" also aired a special episode in tribute to the iconic musical Tuesday night.
Fans of "West Side Story" have been chatting up a storm on Twitter about the musical, excited about how the 50th anniversary of the musical is being celebrated.
"Star Wars" Actor Mark Hamill tweeted: "Taking the whole family to see classic movie musical West Side Story on the big screen tomorrow! I was 10 when I last saw it in a theater!!"
"West Side Story" has won numerous awards for its adaptation of the Shakespearean romantic tragedy, "Romeo and Juliette."
"West Side Story," released in movie theaters in 1961, is also currently playing on Broadway in select cities.
