What Jay Z Said to Solange Revealed: Rapper Wanted to Leave Beyonce Behind for Rihanna's After Party (VIDEO)
What Jay Z said to Solange in the elevator during the Met Gala after party May 5 appeared to set her off on a violent rage and she attacked the famous rapper. Now it seems the infamous words have been revealed: "you're one to talk" was all it took to set Beyonce's sister off.
What Jay Z said to Solange doesn't matter without the context, however. After the Met Gala and after party at Standard Hotel's Boom Boom Room, Jay Z planned on attending Rihanna's exclusive after party without Beyonce. The rapper's team had called the Up & Down club to say he " didn't need extra security" because his wife would be heading home instead, a source told The New York Daily News.
From there, things got ugly.
"Why can't you go home?" Solange Knowles said to Jay Z in the elevator, possibly under the influence of alcohol at the time.
"Why does your husband need to go to the club right now?" the 27-year-old then demanded of her older sister.
"You're one to talk," Jay Z said, and that's allegedly when Solange attacked him in a fury.
In the elevator video, Solange tries to scratch him, kick him and even shove him before the bodyguard Julius managed to intervene. The altercation lasted barely two minutes, but in that time she went back for more several times and even argued with the bodyguard.
It seems that tensions were already running high that night because of an incident at the first after party. Another source told The New York Daily News that some of Solange's friends showed up to the Met Gala after party demanding to be let in because they knew Jay Z.
"Two of her friends, who were not dressed for the Met ball, showed up at the Standard and caused a scene downstairs," the insider explained. "They wouldn't leave and kept name-dropping Jay Z. They were pretending they were guests of his and not hers. Management went to Julius (Beyoncé's bodyguard) and said there's a problem."
Jay Z warned Solange "don't use my name" after the incident, which prompted the threesome to leave 15 minutes later. After the violent attack in the elevator, Jay Z chose not to attend Rihanna's after party, though he did leave in a separate car.
