What she really wanted for Mother's Day
Did you get everything you needed for Mothers Day? Bouquet of flowers, card, cake and hmm lets see time to go out to either dinner or lunch. Another year, another Mothers Day. And you passed the test again. All she wanted was for you to express your love for her. But is this all that mothers really want? A day of recognition for a lifetime of sacrifice and the saying, Happy Mothers Day to seal the deal. Dont they want more?
Inside of every mother, God implanted His image. Mothers resemble God in more ways than just being a towering presence in our lives. They resemble the image of Godwho is love. In order to understand mothers, we must first be able to understand the heart of God.
Lets first examine why God created man. There is always a reason and a purpose the Creator has behind creating creation. Understanding Gods purpose for our lives can shed light on what our mothers purpose for our lives may be.
In Genesis 1:28, God said, Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and over every living creature that moves on the ground."
He wanted mankind to first accept the image of love He had given them and be fruitful, returning the love to Him and then spreading it over all the earths. Isnt what mothers want the same also? They raise their children with love and want to see them become people who in turn live spreading that love to others in the family.
God confirmed His love for us by giving His Son who sacrificed himself to give life to us while mothers also sacrifice themselves as an indication of their love.
Conclusively, what do both want for us? For us to be happy by loving God and each other.
"As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love. 10If you obey my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have obeyed my Father's commands and remain in his love. 11I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete.
It isnt just flowers and the card that mothers want for Mothers Dayits seeing her son or daughter being fruitful with what has been given to them, its being reassured that all their sacrifices werent in vain, and its feeling half the burden but twice the joy in motherhood knowing their child is walking down the right path.
