White Samsung Galaxy Nexus Version Spotted (Photos)
Samsung plans on releasing a white variant of its wildly popular Samsung Galaxy Nexus smartphone in 2012 with the model initially debuting overseas.
The Galaxy Nexus seems to be following suit with other popular smartphones that have gone the white route including the iPhone and Galaxy S2.
“It seems with any smartphone announced these days, users are yearning for a white version of the device, and two prime examples are the iPhone and Galaxy S2,” wrote 9to5 Google.
Photos of the new device were taken by an Italian publication known as HD Blog. The backing appears to be completely white while the front will maintain the black version’s original appearance. The Samsung Nexus S sported a similar design to this one when a white version was released.
The specifications on the white Samsung Galaxy Nexus will remain the same and it will still ship in both a 16GB and 32GB version. The new model is expected to be released in Europe sometime in the coming weeks. Verizon Wireless is yet to announce whether or not the carrier will be releasing its own white Samsung Galaxy Nexus.
U.S. Nexus fans can have the overseas version imported in the meantime if they can’t wait for an official release. The Galaxy Nexus was the flagship device for Google’s latest operating software Android 4.0 otherwise known as Ice Cream Sandwich.
Perhaps a white version better suits the software’s name. The OS is expected to make its way onto other devices such as the Samsung Galaxy S2, Samsung Galaxy Note and HTC Evo 4G. The Galaxy Nexus and new system combine into a lethal combination allowing for features to work through it such as Android Beam that allows users to utilize the NFC (near-field-communications) chip inside the device to transfer data back and forth by touching smartphones back to back.
