White Samsung Galaxy S2 Skyrocket to Launch on AT&T (PHOTOS)

AT&T is planning to release a white version of the Samsung Galaxy S2 Skyrocket, one of the company’s first 4G LTE smartphones.

New pictures were released on the Internet this week by GizmoCrunch showing the device’s new look.

The handset looks identical to the original Skyrocket except for the altering of the outer shell. There is currently no information on the device’s release.

AT&T released its first two LTE smartphones, the Samsung Galaxy S2 Skyrocket and the HTC Vivid, earlier this month.

The Samsung Galaxy S2 Skyrocket is similar to the previous version of the smartphone released on AT&T in the beginning of October with a 4.5-inch Super AMOLED display.

It runs on Gingerbread operating system and matches T-Mobile’s version with a 1.5GHz dual-core processor along with an 8-megapixel camera capable of filming 1080p HD video.

It also includes a 2-megapixel front-facing camera with 16 GB of internal storage and a microSD card slot.

The Skyrocket is expected to upgrade to Ice Cream Sandwich OS sometime in 2012.

The HTC Vivid is also quite impressive with a 4.5-inch qHD display, 1.2GHz dual-core processor and an 8-megapixel-f2.2 28 mm wide-angle camera. It will also be capable of filming in 1080p full HD and will include 16 GB of internal storage.

Other carriers, such as Verizon and Sprint, have had devices of this caliber running on 4G LTE speeds for a while now.

AT&T is playing catch-up, and it promises to be capable of upload and download speeds roughly 10 times quicker than current 3G networks.

AT&T’s LTE network went live in Boston, Washington D.C., Baltimore and Athens on Nov. 6.

The Samsung Galaxy S2 Skyrocket retails at $149.99 with a two-year agreement, and the HTC Vivid is priced at $99.99 under the same terms.
