Whitney Houston's Mother Cissy 'Devastated;' Fears Autopsy Will Tarnish Legacy
Whitney Houston's mother, Cissy, has reportedly been left heartbroken all over again after learning that her daughter had drugs throughout her system when she died. She fears the famed singer will be remembered for the wrong reasons.
The 78-year-old was described as being "devastated" and "inconsolable" after the full autopsy revealed that Houston had cocaine in her system at the time of death, and she cried hysterically when she first heard about the Coroner's findings, according to TMZ.
The autopsy report states that a "spoon with a white crystal like substance in it, a rolled up piece of white paper from off the top of a counter along the east wall of the bathroom" were found in Houston's Beverly Hilton Hotel room, according to the 42-page report.
Cissy allegedly complained to close friends about Houston being remembered for her addiction as opposed to her remarkable achievements, even making reference to her performance of the National Anthem at the 1991 Super Bowl.
"This is the type of thing people should remember Whitney for," Cissy reportedly told friends. "No one's perfect. Only the Lord can judge."
Houston was found dead on Feb. 11 after drowning in her hotel bathtub, and her death has been ruled an accident by the coroner's office.
Coroner's officials cited heart disease and cocaine use as contributing factors, and Houston is believed to have consumed a cocktail of prescription drugs before her death, including anti-anxiety drugs Xanax, Lorazepam and Valium, according to Radar Online.
While Cissy remains skeptical that Houston's battle with addiction could overshadow her remarkable legacy, fans are taking to social networking site Twitter to remember her iconic music.
"I don't care what autopsy reports say about Whitney Houston. She's a music legend in my eyes. May she forever rest in peace," Renee' Flores tweeted.
"Our Sister Whitney Houston was a very special person. She wasn't without imperfections, but she was Perfect," Aaron Thorn-McKinnon tweeted.
