Who has Trump picked for his cabinet? Here are 14 of his nominees
Brian Burch
In a Dec. 20 statement on Truth Social, Trump announced his selection of Brian Burch to serve as U.S. Ambassador to the Holy See. The president-elect described Burch as a “devout Catholic, a father of nine, and President of CatholicVote,” an advocacy group.
“He has received numerous awards, and demonstrated exceptional leadership, helping build one of the largest Catholic advocacy groups in the Country. He represented me well during the last Election, having garnered more Catholic votes than any Presidential Candidate in History! Brian loves his Church and the United States - He will make us all proud,” Trump added.
Burch, as president of CatholicVote, has emerged as an outspoken critic of the Biden presidency and the Harris campaign, particularly regarding how they have responded to and/or embraced anti-Catholicism. In the week leading up to the 2024 election, CatholicVote released an ad criticizing then-Sen. Harris for posing for a picture with members of the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, an anti-Catholic group composed of drag queens who dress up as Catholic nuns.
“This kind of hatred and bigotry cannot be tolerated, much less celebrated by anyone wishing to lead our nation,” Burch stressed in a statement to The Christian Post. “Kamala Harris must publicly condemn these sacrilegious actions and any group that exists to mock and defile what is most sacred to Catholics or any person of faith.”
Over the summer, CatholicVote launched an ad campaign directed at voters in the swing state of Arizona, which features a picture of a young girl raped and strangled to death by an illegal immigrant. In a statement to CP, Burch attributed the girl’s death to “Vice President Kamala Harris’ shameful mismanagement of the border” and the Biden-Harris administration’s embrace of immigration policies that put “tens of thousands of vulnerable migrants at risk of rape, sexual assault and exploitation.”
Leading up to the 2022 elections, CatholicVote launched a $1 million ad campaign condemning what it characterized as the Biden administration’s lackluster responses to violence and vandalism directed at American churches. The advocacy organization has compiled a list of church attacks that have taken place since unrest first broke out following the 2020 death of George Floyd in police custody.
