Why Captain Marvel Won't Be Directed By Joss Whedon
The upcoming Marvel film "Captain Marvel" is expected to bring some changes to its production.
First off, IGN reported that Joss Whedon will officially not be involved in the upcoming film. This surprised many fans as Whedon is known for handling strong female characters. Nevertheless, it seemed as though Marvel is expected to take a new direction.
According to BuzzFeed, he said, "Um, I would never rule anything out, because I like working here. By the same token, the biggest thing for me is that I need to do something that I create myself. Its been way too long since I created a universe. Captain Marvel I don't know as well. There have been a few [versions] of her. I have the first issue of Ms. Marvel, back when she was that, and had the Farrah hair. My only issue with her is that she always felt sort of on top. She was very driven. A winner. I always like to dig into the soil of things to find my heroes, if I can."

"Captain Marvel" will be bringing a female-driven production to Marvel's repertoire. Whedon teased that CEO of Marvel Kevin Feige worked hard to get the team together. He said, "Kevin Feige fought a mighty fight to get her on the schedule."
Aside from Marvel's plans, Whedon was able to share details about his upcoming project. He also explained that his upcoming film will present intriguing story. it will be centered on a girl who goes through interesting challenges. Whedon teased that it will be different from past movies of his. While he did not reveal the title, he said that it is an original screenplay.
He said that he is working on the script for the film. Whedon said that the script for the film could be done in a couple of months. He did share that it is the first time in his career that he is pursuing a project without the pressure of audience ratings. With that, he is looking forward to working on something that he can be passionate about. At the same time, the new opportunity seems to scare Whedon, which could cause delays in the production of the film.
