Why Did Selena Gomez and The Weeknd Break Up?

Recently, "Wolves" singer Selena Gomez made it on entertainment headlines after news of her reconnection with "Sorry" singer Justin Bieber was revealed. Although the previous report indicate that The Weeknd was aware of their interaction and is comfortable with it, new sources reveal a recent development in their relationship: Gomez and The Weeknd have ended their 10-month relationship.

"She and Abel have been going back and forth for a few months about their relationship. It's been hard with him being on tour and her shooting in New York. That wasn't easy on them," an insider told People. "It's been hard for them to come to the realization that this is the direction things were heading, but it's been hard for months."

The insider further added that Gomez is not back together with Bieber, although they have been recently spotted having breakfast and attending church together. Currently, the "Starboy" singer The Weeknd, also known as Abel Tesfaye, is on tour for his album. Despite this, the source also claimed that though they have broken up, they are still in contact.

Meanwhile, another source has confirmed that Bieber is taking the news of their breakup well, saying that the pop singer is happy that she is single and would like an opportunity to rebuild and rekindle their relationship. Furthermore, Bieber seems to be intent on proving that he has changed since their relationship first fell apart. Regardless, fans are adamant and determined to wait for an official statement from Gomez, The Weeknd, and Bieber.

Gomez and Bieber were an on-again, off-again couple from 2011 to 2015. Due to the latter's personality and their differences, they broke up, which led the former to The Weeknd, whom she began dating early this year. Bieber and Gomez's reunion was incited by reports of the latter's recent battle against lupus, and the subsequent kidney transplant she received.
