Johnna Woolfolk, 50, was charged by federal prosecutors with providing false and misleading information. She is expected to plead guilty during a Jan. 9 hearing, U.S. attorney spokesman Thom Mrozek told the Torrance Daily Breeze.

Defense attorney Gordon E. Turner said that Woolfolk admitted in court and to the FBI that she made the call and she now realizes it was wrong. Turner said he is discussing a plea deal with the federal prosecutor.

Woolfolk is reportedly caring for her dying mother in the couple's Lynwood home and has been under a great deal of stress, her attorney Gordon E. Turner said, adding she also believes her husband of 30 years is having an affair and was flying to Atlanta to meet the woman.

Woolfolk called AirTran Airways on Nov. 27 and said her husband was carrying a bomb and boarding an Atlanta bound flight, the FBI said.

He was detained at the airport and he explained he was having trouble with his marriage and his wife wanted him to stay, FBI Special Agent David Gates said.

Woolfolk broke down in tears after authorities replayed her conversation with the AirTran operator, according to FBI Special Agent David Gates.

“She stated that she was not thinking, she did not want to hurt anyone and did not want to cause harm,” Gates wrote in an affidavit.

Woolfolk's actions come just about a month after another woman, Lizet Sariol, was charged with fabricating a terrorist threat and providing false information.

Sariol, 45, allegedly claimed that a romantic partner and four other French travelers posed a terrorist threat aboard a U.S. Airways flight headed from Los Angeles to Las Vegas on Sept. 25. She is scheduled to appear in court in February.
