Wii U 3.0.0 Software Update Rolled out by Nintendo
Nintendo has finally rolled out its 3.0.0 software update for the Wii U console.
This new update delivers a host of new services and enhanced features, such as improved stability and performance, along with faster load times when users switch between applications. It also lays the groundwork for the imminent launch of the Wii U Virtual Console service. Wii U owners will also be able to see the launch of the console's Panorama View soon.
"Wii U continues to grow and evolve with new features that make it a better experience for everyone," said Reggie Fils-Aime, Nintendo of America's president and COO. "Now owners can navigate to their favorite games and services even faster, or play some of their favorite classic games."
The update also speeds up the time required to start the console, launch built-in applications, exit software, return to the main menu, jump between applications, and jump between software and Miiverse.
Users will also have the option to transition to the Wii Menu by holding down the B Button on the Wii U GamePad when the Wii U logo is displayed. They can install games and applications from the Nintendo eShop in the background while other software is being used.
Users will now have the ability to transfer and copy data between two USB storage devices in Data Management, control the priority of their downloads when downloading multiple items at once, and will have improved account selection when powering on the system which now displays Nintendo Network IDs to clearly distinguish accounts.
The software update also allows the TV Screen size output to be adjusted in the System Settings and adds an Undo/Redo button to the Miiverse by drawing on the input screen.
