Wii U Skylanders Swap Force Bundle Now Available in North America for $299
The Wii U Skylanders Swap Force Bundle is now available in North America for $299.
The bundle includes the white 8GB console, Skylanders Swap Force game, Portal of Power, three Skylander action figures, and lots of stickers and trading cards from the series. Some bundles include a copy of Nintendo Land.
Wii U generally retails for $250 and the Skylander Starter kit for $80, so the savings for the bundle are clearly evident. The game, created by Activision, was originally just a toy line, but has now branched out to video games.
Another Wii U Deluxe bundle set is the Super Mario and Luigi Deluxe set, which first came to Europe on November 8.
The set includes the New Super Mario Bros. U and New Super Luigi U on one disc, replacing the previous bundle kit that included Nintendo Land. Also, according to a press release, Nintendo Land will now retail for $29.99.
"Mario and Luigi are two of the biggest heroes in video games," said Scott Moffitt, Nintendo of America's executive vice president of Sales & Marketing in a press release. "This new Wii U configuration gives people instant access to not one, but two of the most well-received Wii U games. It's another example of the tremendous value and variety that Nintendo is offering consumers this holiday season."
Recently, Wii U sales have spiked in Japan thanks in large part to the release of Wii Party U and its great opening sales numbers.
Wii U Party sold around 80,000 copies in its launch week in Japan. "Wii Party U is the first Wii U title to make it into the top 10 in a while," said visual studies professor at Ritsumeikan University, Akinori Nakamura, to Famitsu magazine. "Considering that the Wii U still has a while to go in terms of hardware propagation, selling nearly 80,000 copies in the first is a pretty decent number."
In the first week of November alone, Japan sold 40,000 Wii U units, a 1,500 percent increase. In September they only sold about 1,000 a week reported Polygon.
