Will and Jada Smith Divorce? Reps Say Pinkett and Marc Anthony Rumors Are False
Rumors that Will and Jada-Pinkett Smith have separated after 13 years of marriage surfaced on Tuesday, following an In Touch Weekly report.
The magazine claimed that an inside source revealed the split in an exclusive In Touch interview. Since the report was published, rumors of the break-up have gone viral.
Other rumors involving Pinkett and her recently separated “HawthoRNe” costar, Marc Anthony, have begun circulating.
However, Karynne Tencer, Jada’s rep, told People Magazine: “All the rumors regarding Marc Anthony and Jada are false. Completely untrue. As for [the reports of a split between] Will and Jada, I’m not commenting on their personal life.”
“We unequivocally deny this. Enough is enough. There are families involved, friendships involved. This is NOT true,” Anthony’s rep added, according to People.
Will’s son from a previous marriage, Trey Smith wrote on Twitter that the rumors were completely false.
He tweeted, “Did #WillandJadasplit? No they did NOT split! False information…its not true RETWEET!!!”
He added, “Everyone can think what they want…even if its not true #Lame”
Will Smith has publicly spoken out against divorce, which is why these rumors come as such a shock. He appeared on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” in 2008 and said, "What I found is divorce just can't be an option.
"It's really that simple. And I think that's the problem with L.A. – there are so many options. So a huge part of the success for [Jada] and I is that we just removed the other options."
He added, "We're like listen, we're going to be together one way or the other so we might as well try to be happy.”
Twitter has been buzzing with fan response Tuesday in light of the divorce rumors.
@QuentinMcCall tweeted, "Best thing u [sic] can do if you support Will and Jada is pray for them..."
"If Will and Jada can't make it, NOBODY CAN." @RightOn_Q_ wrote on Twitter.
@JNR80 said, "Will and Jada Smith split up!! I feel like crying, if they can't stay together there's no hope for anyone :("
The couple met on the set of Smith’s show, “The Fresh Prince of Bel Air,” and married in 1997. Will and Jada have two children together: daughter Willow, who is a singer and actress, and son Jaden, a songwriter, rapper, actor, and dancer.
