Will and Jada Smith: How They Dispelled False Rumors of Divorce

Hollywood power couple Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith have had a busy week thwarting off false rumors of the couple separating following 13-years of marriage.

The rumors went so far as to allege that Jada was having a secret affair with singer Marc Anthony.

However, the couple shot down the rumors with lunch, shopping, public statements, and a little help from Will’s oldest son Trey.

Trey went on a Twitter rant about how false the rumors were and tweeted, “Did #WillandJada split? No they did NOT split! False information … it’s not true RETWEET!!!”

The loyal son tweeted several more times about the falsities of the claims.

Late on Tuesday, the day the rumors hit, the couple also released a joint statement saying, “Although we are reluctant to respond to these types of press reports, the rumors circulating about our relationship are completely false. We are still together and our marriage is intact.”

Spokespeople for both Jada and Marc Anthony have also dispelled the rumors that the co-stars are having an affair.

Jada’s spokeswoman said, “All the rumors regarding Marc Anthony are false. As far as Will and Jada, I’m not commenting on their personal life.”

The couple also surfaced in Malibu on Wednesday, the day after the false rumors hit, for brunch and a day of shopping together.

The pair looked extremely happy but critics are arguing that the couple “loved up” for the camera.

Critics are also arguing that the use of the word “intact” in the couple’s statement does not exude any sort of romance or signal that the couple is still in love.

However, not everyone is so cynical about the way the couple has gone about dispelling the rumors.

A couple’s therapist, Dr. Michelle Golland, told Celebuzz, “The stress on celebrity couples can be enormous because no marriage is perfect. There can be issues that need to be addressed. When you are celebrity, people are pointing out the negative in a public manner. The public persona can cause a couple to become anxious or worried – when in reality there was nothing to actually worry about.”

Justin Bieber, a close friend of the couple’s son Jaden, echos similar sentiments and has tweeted about the couple, “Will and Jada are one of the best couples ever. #FACT #real.”
