Will Smith Spotted Training in Earnest for Deadshot Role in 'Suicide Squad' (VIDEO)

A video of Will Smith has surfaced showing him preparing for his role as top marksman supervillain Deadshot in the upcoming DC Comics-based film "Suicide Squad."

Smith took a break from filming the movie last week and was spotted at Taran Tactical Innovations in Moorpark, California practicing target shooting with a Glock 9mm pistol and an AT-15 competition rifle.

TMZ published a video of the 46-year-old "Focus" actor at the gun range shifting from a handgun to an assault rifle to hit several targets in a timed practice with an instructor at his back calling out directions.

While preparations for his role required heavy comic book reading on Deadshot, Smith is getting into character by putting his free weekend to work to ensure his shooting skills remain sharp.

Smith's co-star, Scott Eastwood, who has an as yet unannounced role in the movie, and was photographed on set wearing U.S. Army gear, giving rise to speculations he will be playing Steve Trevor, Wonder Woman's love interest, was also at the same target practice range with Smith.

Filming for the movie began in April and is scheduled to run through August in various locations in Toronto, Canada.

Director David Ayer, who also wrote the script for "Suicide Squad," released several photo teasers on the cast of the film, including Smith in full Deadshot costume, Jared Leto in his transformation as The Joker, and the antihero cast in costume.

"Suicide Squad" is due in theaters in August 5, 2016 and stars Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flag, Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang, Cara Delevigne as , Enchantress, Viola Davies as Amanda Waller, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje as Killer Croc, Adam Beach as Slipknot, Karen Fukuhara as Katana, and Jay Hernandez as El Diablo.
