William and Duchess Kate Wedding Cost $34 Million: 2 Years After the Event
Prince William and Duchess Kate celebrated their second year anniversary on Monday. But instead of remembering their $34 million ceremony last year, the couple spent the day on a more low-key note.
The royal couple kept their anniversary plans private this year, for the most part. But according to sources, they shared a quiet, romantic dinner on Friday just before Prince William had to return to work. Middleton then spent time visiting with kids and their families at Naomi House Children's Hospice in Hampshire, England, as part of Children's Hospice Week 2013, a report in Us Weekly confirmed.
But although much time has passed since the couple first said "I do," some were still talking about the celebrity wedding that for a day, seemed to put a good part of the world on hold. The couple was married on April 29, 2011 in a ceremony that cost an estimated $34 million, according to one site. A second site suggested a total that was slightly less.

Middleton's dress alone cost an estimated $400,000. Last year some of that total may have been made up however, after Buckingham Palace opened up its doors for an exhibit called "The Royal Wedding Dress: A Story of Great British Design." Tickets were set at about $27 and with an expected half million people who attended.
The couple's two wedding receptions cost an estimated $600,000. They also ordered two cakes- a traditional white buttercream cake, and a chocolate cookie cake for the groom- totaling $80,000, according to an ABC report. Distributed amongst 600 guests, that's an estimated $133 per slice, the site reported. Security for the wedding also cost about $33 million, according to Daily Mail.
The expensive wedding came with perks, however. Experts estimated that the celebrity wedding brought in an additional $2 billion in revenue from tourism, according to a report from the The Guardian.
